RAWR

FYI: Don't bother texting Raccoon, cause she won't waste her time responding to YOU. She's much too busy, you see. And snooty.

So, the other night my friend (and children's book author/storyteller) Dianne de Las Casas and I were chatting when I uttered the phrase "RAWR!" Needless to say, this spilled over into a acronym-fest of epic proportions.

Some of my favorites:
Ridiculous Androids Work Respectfully
Rare Apples With Radiation
Radiant Airheads With Racks
Rashy Alligators Won't Reply
Really Arrogant Worker Raccoons

I liked this idea so much that I combined two of them and came up with:

Raccoon Arrogantly Won't Respond

RAWR!

Training Day: Vikings

Here's the first illo in a series that I'm calling Training Day. It's basically just a day in the life of different types of people/creatures/whatever. I have several already in mind to do (maybe 4-5). We'll see.

More to come as time allows.

Link: Cucco Bully

Happy 2011, guys! I dunno about you, but I'm still having some issues getting used to saying "twenty eleven" instead of "two thousand eleven". Anyway.

So yeah, this is my entry for Illustration Friday: Chicken, which unintentionally coincided nicely with some Zelda fanart that I created recently, and have been meaning to post here. I drew this based off the fact that in many of the Zelda games, if you attack a cucco (chicken) enough, eventually a huge flock of them would unleash a beatdown on you that would very likely kill you.

Illustration Friday: Spent

"It wasn't until young Buddy McGee got to the check out counter at the pet store did he realize that he had already spent all of his money."

Illustration Friday: Race

Yay, my second Illustration Friday entry in as many weeks!

The hardest part about this illo was racking my brain and trying to decide what two animals to team up. I *almost* went with a grizzly and a pig, but the combo didn't seem right. Once I decided on a penguin though, the polar bear was the obvious choice. I guess you could call these guys Team Arctic. :)

Illustration Friday: Spooky

Hey, it's my first Illustration Friday entry in forever! I'm gonna really start making a better effort to participate. My art style is going through a bit of a transitionary phase at the moment, where I'm cutting down on the vector portions of my illustrations, and focusing much more on rendering almost everything in in Photoshop.

I hope you like it!

What I've Been Up To

Wow, has it really been almost a year and a half since my last post? Really? Really.

Anyway, just thought that I would share some random pages of my FIRST children's book, The Legend of Peli Claus. My boss at my office did the writing, I did the art and we wrapped it up around a month ago! It took a little over 7 months to get it finished, due to the fact that I was, for the most part, only able to work on it in my spare time, but it was totally worth it. By the last few spreads, I had the process down and was able to breeze through them.  Depending on how this book does, we actually have have an idea for a second one that I will (hopefully) wrap up next year.
